Fluor to Build $250-Million Aladdin Hotel in Las Vegas

Fluor Corp. said it received a $250-million contract to design and build the new Aladdin Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, part of an $825-million entertainment complex.
Fluor’s ADP Marshall unit will construct the Arabian-themed hotel and casino portions of the 35-acre complex.
The hotel and casino complex will anchor a $1.3-billion development being built on the Las Vegas strip by Aladdin Gaming LLC. Closely held Aladdin Gaming is controlled by Jack Somner, a New York real estate developer.
The old Aladdin Hotel and Casino was leveled Monday night by implosion, and the new hotel will be built on the same site.
Irvine-based Fluor said it expects to complete the project in the spring of 2000.
Aladdin Gaming is a joint venture of Somner’s Sigmund Somner Trust and the U.K. casino company, London Clubs International Plc, which will hold a 25% stake.
