Babyface and David Foster have both signed on to produce tracks for Whitney Houston’s first non-movie album since “I’m Your Baby Tonight” in 1990. Sean “Puffy” Combs, Jermaine Dupri, Missy Elliott and R. Kelly are also in discussion to produce songs. The just-recorded duet of Houston and Mariah Carey for the animated film “Prince of Egypt” will also be on the album, due for fall release. . . .
While working on his second post-Van Halen album, Sammy Hagar is taking time out to shoot a guest spot in the CBS TV series “Nash Bridges.” He’ll play a bartender, mixing a Waborita, which just happens to be the specialty of his Cabo Wabo club in Baja California and just happens to be made with his own brand of tequila. The album, “Red Voodoo,” is due in January. . . .
A reissue of Eric B & Rakim’s debut album “Paid in Full” will feature a second disc with remixes overseen by, among others, Coldcut, Richie Rich and the Wild Bunch. . . . “A Perfect Stranger,” a two-CD Marianne Faithfull anthology due Oct. 27, will feature five previously unreleased songs, including “Conversations on a Barstool” (written by U2’s Bono) and John Lennon’s “Isolation.”*
