Stern Named Senior V.P. for Division of Western Digital

Russell Stern has been appointed senior vice president, personal storage engineering, for Western Digital Corp. in Irvine. He is responsible for research and development activities in the Personal Storage division, which provides desktop hard drives to the PC industry. Stern joined Western Digital in 1994 as vice president, new product introductions. He later served as vice president in charge of the Personal Storage division’s Asian operations, and was named vice president of engineering for the division this year.

* Don L. Jackson has been appointed vice president of marketing for Quality Systems Inc., a Tustin developer and provider of computer-based practice management and medical records systems for medical and dental group practices. He was previously with Henry Schein Inc., where he directed the growth of the company’s Practice Management Technologies division. Jackson has also been executive vice president and chief operating officer of the retail services division of FoxMeyer, a distributor of pharmaceuticals.

* Benjamin A. Singer has been named to the new position of corporate vice president, public relations for PacifiCare Health Systems Inc. in Santa Ana. He joined the company in 1993 as director of public relations.

* Michael O. Mueting has joined Psomas in Costa Mesa as senior project manager in the land development services group. He was formerly a partner in the consulting firm Richards Mueting Wilkes in Riverside.

* Gary A. Green has been appointed executive vice president of Eldorado Bank in Tustin and will manage the commercial lending group. He has been with Eldorado since 1989. In addition, James D. Franklin has been named to the board of directors. He is president of Har-Bro Inc., general contractors and consultants.

* Don Simkins has been appointed vice president of Venture West Funding Inc.’s new office in Irvine. Simkins had been senior loan officer at First Pacific Financial, specializing in income property loans and high-end residential loans. Venture West is a banking and mortgage brokerage company.

* Phil Davis has been named president of Lake Forest-based Telecom Solutions Inc.’s SF2K division. Davis will assume responsibility for programs at Boeing sites and other installations. For the last four years, he has been executive vice president of Telecom Solutions.

* John Wells, senior vice president of technology for Pick Systems Inc. in Irvine, has been selected to head the company’s new professional services division. Wells, a 10-year veteran of Pick Systems, previously had responsibility for overall product engineering, support engineering, quality assurance and customer support. In addition, Craig Burbidge and Bud Coyne have been appointed to new marketing management positions. Burbidge was named product marketing manager, layered products and Coyne was named product marketing manager, core technologies.

* Jo Etta Bandy has been named director of communications for First American Financial Corp. in Santa Ana, a provider of real estate-related financial and information services. She succeeds Kathy Munson Snyder, who has moved to Colorado but will continue to work for the company and focus on employee communications. Bandy was previously vice president of broker and media relations with Market Pathways Financial Relations Inc. in Irvine and before that, was vice president-investor relations for Fidelity National Financial Inc.

* Patrick Flanagan has been named to the new position of executive vice president of New Century Financial Corp. in Irvine. Flanagan joined New Century Mortgage Corp., the company’s mortgage subsidiary, in 1996, serving as regional vice president of Midwest wholesale and retail operations. He was appointed executive vice president and chief operating officer of New Century Mortgage, as well as a director, in 1997.

* Lucy Dunn has been named executive vice president of Hearthside Homes Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of California Coastal Communities, formerly know as Koll Real Estate Group. She had been senior vice president with Koll.

* Chad Covington has joined Monarch Communities of California in Laguna Niguel as director of development. He was formerly with Pardee Construction Co., where he was responsible for land acquisition in Southern California. Before that, Covington was vice president of operations for Meadowood Properties.

* Wil Quintana and Stephen Smith have joined DocuSource Inc., an office technology solutions company, as directors of sales in the Irvine location. They will be responsible for strategic marketing and business development.
