Sophia Witherspoon scored 21 points to help the New York Liberty avenge its worst loss of the season and improve its playoff chances with a 70-54 victory over the Houston Comets on Saturday at New York before 19,563.
The Liberty (18-10), won its fourth consecutive game to move one-game behind Cleveland in the WNBA’s Eastern Conference. The Comets (25-3) have clinched the Western Conference title.

The Rockers (19-10) can clinch the Eastern Conference championship in the playoffs with a victory Monday night at New York.
