School Parking Ban May Be Broadened
Saying it will improve safety and ease congestion, the City Council tonight will consider creating a no-parking zone in the neighborhood across from Villa Park High School.
The ban is proposed for the west side of Smokewood Drive between East Taft Avenue and Oakfield Drive.
The ban would prevent parents from parking in the neighborhood while they wait for students.
In June, the council prohibited parking on the east side of Smokewood.
Councilwoman Patricia L. Bortle said the biggest safety hazard is students crossing the street illegally when walking to the Smokewood neighborhood.
The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. in the council chambers, 17855 Santiago Blvd.
