Vigilantes Fail to Gain Ground in Playoff Race
The Vigilantes lost to Pacific, 2-1, in a Western Baseball League game Monday at Oxnard College.
It was the first time in eight games this season that Mission Viejo (43-39 overall) had lost to Pacific (26-55).
The Vigilantes also lost an opportunity to gain a game on Sonoma County (46-36), which lost to Chico, 19-1, Monday.
Sonoma County maintained a three-game lead over Mission Viejo for the second-best record in the Southern Division and a playoff berth against Chico, which won the first half and has a 7 1/2-game lead with nine left in the second half.
The Vigilantes continue their four-game series with the Suns tonight. Pacific will visit Mission Viejo for two games Saturday and Sunday, then the Vigilantes finish the regular season with three games at Sonoma County.
