Police Storefront Grand Opening Set
The grand opening of the Marina Village Police Storefront will be today at Marina Village in Port Hueneme.
“We’ve had some problems recently with gangs,” said Officer Steve Collette, who will staff the storefront with Officer Mike Federico. “Marina Village is in the north end of the city, so it’s furthest away from our station. With the storefront, we’ll get to know the residents and they can just walk in and talk to us.”
The storefront initially will be open from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, and from noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays.
Volunteers are needed to staff the operation and answer basic questions, Collette said.
The Marina Village Storefront is at 2567 Tiller Ave. The grand opening is from 6 to 8 p.m. For information, call 382-0050.
