Shut Long Beach!
Christopher Reynolds wrote about the hope for “rebirth” of the Long Beach Airport and implied that Long Beach residents who, in the past, opposed the airport development are now appeased (“Can WinAir Lift Up Long Beach Airport?” Nov. 1). Not so!
Because of its very close proximity to LAX and John Wayne airport, Long Beach Airport should be closed altogether. It has shown that it cannot survive even with several airlines and many flights, and the noise created by these flights is ridiculous. I do not live close to the airport, but on many occasions the noise was such that I thought planes were landing on my roof!
The city of Long Beach should concentrate on the harbor and close its airport.
