Simi Valley 92, University (San Diego) 63--Rafael Berumen scored 12 of his game-high 21 points in the third quarter for Simi Valley in the first round of the Holiday tournament in San Diego. Brett Michel scored 18 points for No. 1-ranked Simi Valley (8-1).

Harvard-Westlake 54, Morningside 51--Russell Lakey scored 14 points and Todd Kurihara scored 12 for Harvard-Westlake (6-5) in a first-round game of the Artesia tournament.

Montclair Prep 81, Santa Fe 50--Josiah Johnson scored 17 of his 34 points in the third quarter for Montclair Prep (4-6) in a first-round game of the LaSalle-Temple City tournament.

Johnson, who made 15 of 20 shots from the field, had 22 rebounds. Jessie Bronner had 13 points and 12 rebounds.

Thousand Oaks 60, San Marcos 55--Jeff Heyne and Tim Chevalier each scored 17 points to lead Thousand Oaks (9-2) in the first round of the Santa Barbara tournament.

Heyne had eight rebounds and Fran Adams had seven assists.
