Kentucky freshman guard J.P. Blevins pleaded innocent Monday in Fayette Circuit Court to a charge of alcohol intoxication.

Blevins, 19, was suspended for the Dec. 19 Georgia Tech game after being arrested on a public intoxication charge while attending a Dec. 13 party. Coach Tubby Smith said the suspension was for a violation of team rules.

Blevins is the first Kentucky athlete to face penalties under the school’s new zero-tolerance alcohol policy.

Sophomore guard Josh Hare, arguably the most valuable walk-on player among the seven at Virginia, will miss six to eight weeks with a broken left ankle. Hare, who is averaging 4.0 points and 2.9 rebounds and appeared in all 12 games for the Cavaliers, suffered the injury Monday night.
