Courtnall Gets on a Hot Streak

Forward Russ Courtnall has scored six goals, with three coming in his last four games including two against the New York Rangers on Thursday night. Courtnall, in his 15th NHL season, needs 14 more goals to reach 300.

Before the start of Thursday night’s game. Luc Robitaille was honored for reaching 1,000 points. Robitaille, who has 1,001 going into the game, received two Tiffany’s crystal awards from the NHL and his former team the Rangers, and a silver stick from the Kings.

The Kings’ Pete Demers is the trainer for Team USA in the upcoming Olympics in Nagano, Japan. Demers is in his 29th season with the organization and 26th as the Kings’ trainer. He has worked 2,076 consecutive games and was the trainer for Team USA at three World Championships (1997, 1996, 1994). In 1996, Demers was the trainer for the gold medal winning Team USA at the World Cup.

The Kings will have the Stanley Cup for public view on Feb. 15 when they host a “Winter Break” night featuring an alumni game with former Kings and Vancouver Canucks and celebrities at the Great Western Forum. Tickets are $6 with a special VIP package for $50 which includes a pregame reception.
