Panel Hears Testimony on Proposed Leaf Blower Ban
The city’s Housing and Neighborhoods Committee, which is considering whether to recommend a ban on gasoline-powered leaf blowers in Long Beach, met Tuesday to hear testimony from gardeners and landscapers in favor of leaf blowers and residents opposed to the machines.
The committee, chaired by Councilman Alan Lowenthal, took no action but tentatively scheduled a March 17 meeting for demonstrations of leaf blowers in Lincoln Park, near City Hall.
