STINGRAYS TONIGHT
Opponent--Atlanta Glory.
Time--4 PST.
Records--Long Beach (24-17), Atlanta (15-27).
Site--Morehouse College Olympic Arena.
Update--There are worse things than being labeled talented yet inconsistent. You could be Atlanta. The Glory is just plain bad. Teresa Edwards’ team has lost four in a row, lugs around the ABL’s third-worst record and hasn’t come within 14 points of beating Long Beach in three tries this season. If form holds, the StingRays will get well tonight, 48 hours after their worst showing of the season, the 97-63 Thursday loss at New England. While that was transpiring, Atlanta was absorbing an even worse beating from Columbus, 93-52. It’s game No. 42 in Long Beach’s 44-game regular season. After tonight, the team plays at Columbus on Sunday and finishes at Philadelphia on Tuesday. If the Colorado Xplosion (19-23) remains the sixth-seeded playoff team, there will be a Long Beach-Colorado best-of-three playoff opener Feb. 21 at the Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim.
