Man Killed When Pickup Hits Tree
A 39-year-old San Pedro man visiting his family in Thousand Oaks died early Saturday when his pickup slammed into a sycamore tree just off Erbes Road, authorities said.
Ronald H. Johnson was driving alone in his 1971 truck south on Erbes about 3:45 a.m. when he apparently lost control of his vehicle at the intersection of Tubbs Street, according to Sheriff’s Senior Deputy Bill Therrien.
When Ventura County Fire Department emergency crews arrived at the scene, they pronounced Johnson dead from severe multiple blunt force trauma, Therrien said.
