St. Mary’s 68, Pepperdine 56--The Waves ran into a roadblock in the semifinals of the West Coast Conference tournament, losing at Santa Clara’s Toso Pavilion.

The Waves (21-10), finishing the season in the semifinals for the third consecutive year, shot 20.7% (six of 29) in the first half and fell behind, 28-17.

With Pepperdine going more than 12 minutes without a basket, St. Mary’s (20-8) took its biggest lead, 41-23, early in the second half before the Waves rallied and got within 54-47 with 6:11 left on two three-point baskets by Liz Paulson.
