Man Stabbed During Fight With Co-Worker
MOORPARK — An ongoing dispute between two workers at a swimming-pool equipment company escalated into violence Wednesday when one man stabbed the other as employees looked on, authorities said.
The stabbing happened at 4:30 p.m. at American Products Co., 10951 E. Los Angeles Ave.
Sheriff’s Det. Ernie Montagna said Solomon Guitierrez, 19, of Oxnard was preparing to leave for the day when he was confronted by Jose Mendoza, 21, of Moorpark.
The two men began fighting, and witnesses said Mendoza stabbed Guitierrez in the back, Montagna said.
Guitierrez was taken to St. John’s Pleasant Valley Hospital in Camarillo where he was treated for a single stab wound. He was listed in good condition Wednesday night.
Mendoza was booked into the East County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder.
Montagna said the two had quarreled before, but detectives are trying to determine a motive for the attack.
