Man Found Dead in Parking Lot Identified
The man found shot to death in a warehouse parking lot Thursday morning has been identified by police as 36-year-old Patrick Perez.
According to Van Nuys Division Det. Steven Fisk, Perez, a Burbank resident, died from a gunshot wound.
Employees of Olympia Marble & Granite on Raymer Street called police at 6:55 Thursday morning after discovering the body in an adjacent parking lot. Police found Perez’s Honda Accord at the scene, with both doors open, leading investigators to believe that the suspect may have been with him in the car.
An autopsy performed Friday showed that Perez was shot at close range.
Perez, who lived with his mother and sister, worked at Starbucks on Ventura Boulevard in Studio City.
Starbucks employees said Perez was well-liked. Starbucks spokeswoman Jessica McCann Cobb said the company is now discussing whether to offer reward money for information on the case.
Perez’s death is the first homicide of 1998 for the Van Nuys Division, said Lt. Richard Blankenship.
