‘Titanic’ Nearing the $200-Million Mark
Now the highest-grossing three-hour film ever, “Titanic” is close to smashing the $200-million mark. Paramount Pictures said it should know today whether it does. If so, it would achieve the feat in only 25 days. The time record-holder is “Independence Day,” which took in $200 million in 21 days, followed by “Jurassic Park” and “The Lost World: Jurassic Park,” each of which did it in 23 days.
“Tomorrow Never Dies,” meanwhile, went above $100 million domestically. The MGM/UA release has taken in $241 million worldwide.
