Man Killed Walking on Freeway Identified
An Oxnard man killed while walking in the southbound lanes of the Ventura Freeway over the weekend has been identified by the Ventura County coroner’s office.
Francisco Aguilar Moran, 39, died Sunday night from blunt force head injuries, according to the coroner’s office. He had been walking in traffic lanes where the freeway winds through Oxnard, near the Wagon Wheel Road offramp, authorities said.
California Highway Patrol officials said the man did not appear to be a stranded motorist, as he did not have a car nearby. Authorities were unable to explain what Moran was doing in the area.
Tests for alcohol or drugs in Moran’s system have been conducted, and the results should be available in several weeks, coroner’s officials said.
