UCLA at STANFORD
* When--Saturday. Time--1 p.m. TV--Channel 2.
* Storyline--The Bruins don’t have to be reminded of last season’s 109-61 loss at Maples Pavilion, the worst defeat in UCLA history. “The Maples Massacre,” Coach Steve Lavin said. “World War II headline, bold print.” Stanford, one of three remaining unbeaten teams, along with North Carolina and Utah, sends its size against UCLA’s speed. The winner inherits a role as Arizona’s main challenger in Pacific 10 and keeps a tight grip on a spot in Associated Press top 10. Stanford is surviving a foot injury to Mark Madsen with a balanced inside-outside game, led by guard Kris Weems, and freshman forward Jarron Collins from Harvard-Westlake playing an increased role.
