City Panel to Discuss Pedestrian Safety
The city’s Transportation Committee will hold a special meeting Thursday to discuss pedestrian safety in the Valley.
School officials and other community leaders are expected to join council members Joel Wachs and Richard Alarcon at the meeting, which will begin at 9 a.m. at Noble Avenue elementary, 8329 Noble Ave.
Other topics on the agenda are the safe use of crosswalks, a volunteer school crossing-guard program and the installation at Valley intersections of smart crosswalk lights, which flash yellow when pedestrians enter the crosswalk.
City officials said children and the elderly are the primary victims of pedestrian accidents, so their safety will be one focus of the discussion.
