GIRLS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP
In the Century League:
Villa Park 50, El Modena 49--Bianca Larson made a basket with 23 seconds left in the game to give Villa Park (14-4, 5-0) the victory. Larson scored 21 points and had nine rebounds. El Modena missed a shot with one second left.
In the Olympic League:
Calvary Chapel 54, Brethren Christian 43--Cathy Joens scored 23 points as Calvary Chapel claimed sole possession of first place in league. The Eagles are 16-3, 4-0. Brethren Christian fell to 11-7, 3-1.
In the Orange League:
Savanna 47, Western 43--Cristina Aquino scored 13 points and Jamie Racke added seven points and 14 rebounds for Savanna (5-13, 2-2), which led, 31-21, at the end of the third quarter. Lia Eleoupolos scored nine of her 15 points in the fourth quarter for Western (3-14, 1-3).
In the Pacific Coast League:
Estancia 36, University 35--Amy Deming stole the ball with six seconds remaining and hit a layup at buzzer for the victory. Deming finished with 10 points to lead Estancia (6-14, 2-3).
In the Sea View League:
No. 9 El Toro 63, Corona del Mar 32--Giuliana Mendiola scored 15 points and had six steals to lead El Toro. Suzanne Guy added 11 points and Melanie Cherney 10 for the Chargers (17-2, 5-0).
Irvine 46, Newport Harbor 36--Irvine, which scored three first-quarter points, rallied from a 15-13 halftime deficit, scoring 23 points in the fourth quarter. Jami Allred led Irvine (12-6, 4-1) with 20 points. Kristen Urban led Newport Harbor (6-14, 1-4) with 17 points.
In the South Coast League:
No. 2 San Clemente 71, No. 6 Mater Dei 59--Debby Caine scored 20 points and Colleen Turnbull added 17 for San Clemente. The Tritons are 18-4, 4-1.
Trabuco Hills 57, Dana Hills 49--Emily Deeley scored 21 points and Suzanne Linn added 11 points and 11 rebounds for Trabuco Hills (12-8, 2-3).
