Renken, a forward from El Dorado High, sat out last season after transferring from Saddleback to Santa Ana, but she looks as good as ever. She already has been selected most valuable player of a tournament this season and was the leading scorer in both of Santa Ana’s victories last week. She scored 26 as the Dons beat Riverside, 83-66, and had 25 in a 72-68 victory against Saddleback.

* Irvine Valley, sophomore. Scored 40 points on 15 of 21 shooting and had 17 rebounds in two victories.
Vernon Jackson
Saddleback, Freshman

Jackson, from Southside High in Atlanta, came to Saddleback on the advice of Anthony Carter, a former Gaucho who is starting at Hawaii. He scored a season-high 29 points, including making eight of 10 free throws in an 83-71 victory over Orange Coast. He scored 11 points and had 11 rebounds in a 67-62 victory over Santa Ana. Jackson, a guard, is averaging 18 points and seven rebounds.

* Cypress, freshman. Scored the Chargers’ final nine points in regulation of a 78-74 overtime victory over Irvine Valley.
