ORANGE COUNTY EARNINGS
Sunstone Hotel Investors Inc.: The San Clemente real estate investment trust, which owns hotels in the Western U.S., reported that net income for the fourth quarter totaled $3.5 million, or 10 cents a share, more than double the $1.5 million, or 13 cents a share, for the year-earlier period. Revenue climbed to $17.3 from $4.5 million. For the year, net income rose to $15.6 million, or 72 cents a share, from $5.6 million, or 69 cents a share, for 1996. Revenue increased to $45.2 million from $15.1 million. The company said it acquired 27 hotels during the year.
