Summit on Volunteerism to Help Groups and Individuals
Responding to requests from volunteers, and nonprofit groups in need of volunteers, Harbor-area Councilman Rudy Svorinich Jr. and the South Bay Adult School will sponsor a summit Thursday designed to capture the spirit of volunteerism.
The San Pedro Volunteer Summit, which will be held at the Sheraton Hotel from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., will include workshops on how to attract volunteers, ways in which nonprofit groups can generate revenue and how to volunteer. The event will also feature a meeting on the role of youths in volunteerism.
“We’re hoping to get a good list of who’s out there and how many people are volunteering,” said Barry Glickman, a spokesman for Svorinich. “We’re hoping to marry people with volunteer groups and groups with people.”
