Staying Under Wraps

Regarding John Clark’s article on Odette Springer and her documentary about Roger Corman and Concorde/New Horizons (“ ‘Some Nudity’ Provided a Catharsis,” Jan. 24):

I do not know Springer and have not seen her film. However, I think the image presented of Corman and his company in the article is unfairly one-sided.

Yes, Corman does make exploitation films, but he also produces family-oriented movies and films for the mainstream audience.

I wrote the original screenplay for Concorde’s “Cheyenne Warrior” (1994), a love story involving a pioneer woman and a Cheyenne chief. Since its release, I have received fan mail and positive commentary from all over the United States, mostly from women. There is no nudity in it. In fact, an innocent, comical nude bathing scene in my script was never even shot.

Is that exploitation?
