From Times Wire Reports

Astronaut David Wolf worked out diligently every day during his stay aboard the Russian space station Mir. When he returns to Earth on the space shuttle Endeavour, he won’t be ambulatory and will be carried off on a stretcher instead. Scientists fear that an attempt to walk could adversely affect data they are compiling on how weightlessness affected Wolf during his 4 1/2-month stay on Mir. The seven-member crew of the shuttle spent its last full day in space packing and preparing for landing at Kennedy Space Center. Wolf is expected to be fit enough to return to duty in about two to six weeks.
