The California State Games return to San Diego beginning today, when more than 5,500 amateur athletes will compete in 20 Olympic-style events.
Opening ceremonies begin at 8 tonight at Olympic Stadium at San Diego Mesa College. The games conclude July 19.
Admission to all events, including the opening ceremonies, is free.
