Providing Condoms
I couldn’t help but be struck with a Michael Ramirez cartoon that ran on the May 21 Commentary page, depicting the public education system as a bus without an engine, and a mechanic who says, “On the bright side, we have plenty of condoms.”
It’s clear that the public education system in California needs help, and probably the best answer is for the community to come together to work out solutions. Planned Parenthood Los Angeles has been pleased to provide responsible sex education programs to public schools at no cost to the school district for over 10 years. This is a service we can provide that frees teachers to concentrate on the basics.
If asked, we also provide condoms at no cost. We are interested in being part of the solution.
