Voters Pick Professor for Board of Education Post
A 52-year-old college professor was elected Tuesday to the Baldwin Park School District Board of Education to fill a vacancy created by the death of longtime member Robert Viramontes.
Marco A. Dominguez, garnered nearly three-fifths of the votes.
Dominguez, a director of student activities at East Los Angeles Community College, advocated upgrading schools sites and opposed Proposition 227, the successful ballot measure that virtually ends bilingual education in California.
The district serves nearly 17,000 students.
