Heston Blasts Clinton at NRA Convention

Calling on members of the National Rifle Assn. to unify behind him, Charlton Heston lashed out at President Clinton, saying: “America did not trust you with our health care system. America did not trust you with gays in the military. We did not trust you with our 21-year-old daughters, and we sure, Lord, don’t trust you with our guns.” Heston is expected to be elected president of the NRA during the group’s 127th convention, now running in Philadelphia. Criticizing the media and politicians, Heston took special aim at the president. More than 40,000 NRA members attended the convention.
