*** The Jesus and Mary Chain, “Munki,” Sub Pop. Buzzing guitars, super-pop hooks, Velvet Underground drone, thunderous drums, twisted lyrics--yep, Scottish brothers Jim and William Reid are back to their old noisy tricks, following 1994’s relatively restrained “Stoned & Dethroned.” Seventeen songs make “Munki” a slightly unwieldy pop album, but the duo’s grungy-erotic juggernauts are still fresh after 13 years, and the trip-hop experiment “Perfume” shows that the brothers are willing to try new things. They play Tuesday at the Palace.
