4.3 Aftershock Hits Near Mammoth Lakes
A magnitude 4.3 aftershock of Monday’s 5.1 Eastern Sierra earthquake occurred at 11:33 p.m. Wednesday 11 miles southeast of Mammoth Lakes, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
There have been more than 600 temblors in the new series of quakes centered just outside the volcanic Long Valley caldera. None have caused any damage, and scientists say they are probably not volcanic in nature.
