* UNITE, the apparel workers union, said it has expanded its campaign against Guess Inc. by enlisting the support of unions in 14 countries. UNITE said apparel unions in Asia, Europe and South America have agreed to tactics such as handing out protest leaflets at Guess stores in their countries. The new measures are the latest in UNITE’s campaign against the Los Angeles-based apparel company. UNITE, which has been trying to organize workers in Southern California, has accused Guess of using sweatshop labor contractors. Guess said the union’s claims are false and that there has been little anti-Guess action by foreign unions.
