Cerplex Group Inc.: The Tustin provider of services for the high technology industry incurred a net loss of $3.2 million, or 9 cents a share, for the fourth quarter, compared with a net loss of $13.6 million, or 99 cents a share, for the 1996 fourth quarter. Sales dropped 40% to $29.2 million from $48.7 million.

For the year, the company lost $16.5 million, or 56 cents a share, compared with a net loss of $27.4 million, or $2.24 a share, for 1996. The net loss for 1997 includes $9.3 million for restructuring charges, inventory write-offs and other charges. The company also recorded a $6.2-million gain from the sale of a subsidiary. Sales were down 26% to $141.4 million from $191.5 million.

The company attributed the revenue decline primarily to the sale of the company’s Peripheral Computer Support and Modcomp subsidiaries in 1997 as well as its ongoing liquidity problems.
