An explosion and fire along Ecuador’s largest oil pipeline left seven people dead, 80 injured and 624 without homes, officials said. Investigators are trying to determine the cause of Thursday’s fire, which started when a landslide caused a section of the Trans Ecuador pipeline near Esmeraldas to break and spill thousands of barrels of oil. Witnesses said the explosion occurred when flames reached a store selling propane canisters, igniting a fireball.
