Fiset Is Injured but Storr’s Ready

Goaltender Stephane Fiset suffered a minor groin injury in Saturday’s 5-2 loss to St. Louis and will not dress for tonight’s game against Vancouver at the Great Western Forum.

Jamie Storr will get the start and Frederic Chabot, who was recalled from Houston of the International Hockey League on Sunday for the fourth time this season, will be his backup.

Fiset’s injury is not considered serious and he could be ready to play by the end of the week. After tonight’s game, the Kings will have a two-day break before they play host to Carolina on Thursday.

One day after sharply criticizing the NHL for bowing to the complaints of the league’s top goal scorers in enforcing an obstruction crackdown, King Coach Larry Robinson was still upset Sunday.

“I don’t go back on what I said . . . but the game happens on the ice,” said Robinson, who points to the increase in the number of overall penalties. “They [officials] have to get a feeling for what is happening on the ice. I think it’s gotten to the point that there is no feeling.”

Center Ray Ferraro said that as long as officials continue to call every clutching and grabbing violation and the NHL does not back down to complaints like it did two seasons ago, players will adapt.

“[There isn’t a problem] if they keep calling [obstruction],” Ferraro said. “If a player keeps taking penalties, coaches are not going to play you.

“I just hope that we take less penalties as the season goes on.”
