Reentry Workshops Offered for Women

The Re-Entry and Women’s Center at Ventura College plans several free workshops next month geared toward women returning to school and rejoining the work force, school officials said.

The center also offers ongoing support groups weekdays, including meetings on stress reduction and parenting.

The first workshop is scheduled April 15 and focuses on domestic violence. Lupe Pena of Interface Children, Family Services of Ventura will present the course.

“Panning for Gold: Scholarship Application Workshop for Students in the Arts” will be held April 22, taught by Karen Brown.

She is project director of New Horizons, a grant program that assists reentry students who are seeking a vocational major.

Linda Livingston, a member of the Coalition to End Domestic Violence and Sexual Violence, presents a workshop April 29 on date rape.

A May 6 workshop will focus on eating disorders.

The workshops are free and run from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
