Surgery Deadline Set for Hebert

Surgery might be required if goaltender Guy Hebert’s strained right shoulder doesn’t respond to treatments within the next week, Coach Pierre Page said Thursday.

Hebert, who suffered the injury before the Olympic break last month and aggravated it during a March 8 game against the Carolina Hurricanes, has been doing rehabilitation exercises in Anaheim.

It was initially hoped he would be fit to join the team later in this seven-game trip. But it now looks doubtful.

“We’ll know something in the next five to seven days,” Page said.

With Hebert sidelined, Mikhail Shtalenkov started his career-high sixth consecutive game in Thursday’s 3-3 tie against the Philadelphia Flyers.

Shtalenkov stopped 33 of 36 shots.

Page scratched defenseman Dmitri Mironov and winger Tomas Sandstrom Thursday. Both have minor injuries and could have played. Mironov has a sprained right ankle, suffered in a 3-0 loss Wednesday to the New Jersey Devils. Sandstrom has a groin injury.

Teemu Selanne marked his 400th NHL game by scoring his NHL-leading 44th goal, on a two-on-one break with Sean Pronger in the second period. It also was his 258th career goal, which placed him in an elite group.

Only Wayne Gretzky, with 366 goals, Mario Lemieux (320), Mike Bossy (319) and Bobby Hull (312) scored more goals than Selanne in their first 400 games.
