Decision on Books
The San Francisco school board’s decision to include authors who reflect the ethnic diversity of its population makes sense to me (March 21). However, I am also willing to wager that 50%-plus of that population is female. How dare they leave the inclusion of female authors to the chance that “as the curriculum becomes more contemporary, it becomes more filled with women”! Have they looked at the authors on the bestseller list lately?
