Jose Canseco is best remembered as an Oakland Athletic, and Tuesday night he made the A’s remember him when he homered to lead off the bottom of the 10th inning, giving the Toronto Blue Jays a 4-3 victory over his former team.

Canseco, who played for Oakland from 1985-1992 and again last season, hit a 3-2 pitch from Billy Taylor (0-3) over the left-field wall for his 11th homer.

Randy Myers (1-0) pitched a perfect 10th.

Toronto missed a chance to win it in the ninth, failing to score against Mike Fetters after putting runners at first and third with none out.

Trailing, 3-1, the Blue Jays tied the score in the seventh against Tom Candiotti on Alex Gonzalez’s run-scoring groundout and Shannon Stewart’s RBI single.

Stewart had given Toronto a 1-0 lead in the third with his second home run. Oakland came right back in the fourth on Dave Magadan’s two-out RBI single.

Oakland took a 3-1 lead in the sixth on Jason Giambi’s two-run homer, his fifth.
