Wearing Seat Belts
Re “Driver, 19, Spared Jail in Fatal Newport Beach Crash,” May 7: The vehicle flipped and threw eight teenagers to the pavement. The real cause of the resulting death and severe injuries was the decision by each participant not to wear a seat belt. This is the message the driver should give when he performs his community service speaking engagements.
