Gwynn’s Injury Not Serious
Associated Press
An MRI exam on Tony Gwynn’s twisted right knee showed no cartilage damage and the San Diego Padre outfielder could be back in the lineup in a few days.
Gwynn took himself out of Friday night’s 7-6 victory over Philadelphia after reaching on an error in his third at-bat. Concerned there might be damage, the team had Gwynn take an MRI Friday night.
“I just want to make sure right off the bat and not mess around, so people would be able to sleep,” Gwynn said before Saturday’s game against the Phillies. “I’ve torn my [ligament] before, and I knew it wasn’t as bad this time.”
