3 New-Media Firms Are Expected to Merge

Continuing the consolidation of local new-media firms, Beverly Hills-based Digital Planet and Spin Cycle Entertainment of Los Angeles are expected to announce today that they will merge with BoxTop/iXL. The combined office, to be renamed iXL-Los Angeles, will be one of the biggest interactive firms on the Digital Coast, with more than 150 employees. The company did not reveal financial terms of the deal.

Joshua Greer, chairman and chief executive of Web design firm Digital Planet, will become chief operating officer for iXL-Los Angeles.

Stephen Jackson, president and chief executive of interactive entertainment firm Spin Cycle, will assume a new role as senior vice president in charge of entertainment for the eight offices in the Atlanta-based iXL chain.

Last month, BoxTop/iXL Chief Executive Kevin Wall was promoted to vice chairman of iXL Holdings, the parent company. Trip Davis, co-founder of the company’s San Francisco office, will replace Wall as president of iXL-Los Angeles.
