LAX-to-Budapest Nonstop Flights

Hungary’s Malev Airlines on June 2 will begin the only nonstop flights between Los Angeles and Budapest, operated on a charter basis and for the summer only. They depart LAX about every two weeks, on various days of the week. Round-trip coach air fare is $699 to $870, depending on the date. “We’re testing the waters to see if there’s a market,” said Adrian Rops, regional manager for the airline, which has run daily nonstops to Budapest from New York City for several years. So far, he said, L.A. business has been brisk. The planes are extended-range Boeing 767-200s.
