4 County Golfers Qualify for Women’s State Finals
Selby Schriber and Mary Morgan of Saddleback College, Maryann Shipley of Fullerton and Marcella Derek of Orange Coast qualified for the state women’s golf championships at the Southern California Regional Championships Friday at Menifee Lakes.
College of the Desert won the team competition with 651 points Friday. Mt. San Antonio was second (693), Orange Coast third (696) and Fullerton fourth (724).

OCC golf--The name of Orange Coast College freshman golfer Maricela Dietrick was misspelled in Saturday’s edition of the Times Orange County.
Shipley, Schriber and Morgan finished Friday with scores of 152 for 36 holes. Derek had 157. Erica Behefiel of Desert was the medalist at 150.
College of the Desert and Mt. SAC qualified for state finals, which will be held Sunday and Monday at Spring Valley Lake Country Club in Victorville.
In Orange Empire Conference women’s volleyball:
Cypress 3, Irvine Valley 2--Jessica Miles had 17 kills and Chris Stiglbauer added 19 digs to lead Cypress, 9-15, 15-1, 15-8, 9-15, 15-13. Anji Crilly had 17 kills for Irvine Valley (9-7, 5-7). Cypress is 8-8, 5-7.
Golden West 3, Santa Ana 0--Kui Fletcher had nine kills for Golden West, which won, 15-1, 15-5, 15-6. The Rustlers are 19-0, 12-0.
Orange Coast 3, Riverside 0--Staci Christensen had 12 kills and Susie Packard added nine in Orange Coast’s 15-5, 15-4, 15-12 victory.
Saddleback 3, Fullerton 0--Saddleback’s Lara Smith had 16 kills and Kelly Webb had 15 to help defeat Fullerton, 15-8, 15-13, 15-13. Fullerton’s Shannon Rosenkrantz led her team with 16 kills. Saddleback (20-4, 10-2) is ranked second in the state. Fullerton is 11-6, 6-6.
