Pinkerton Inc. won a $1.1-billion contract to provide expanded security services to General Motors and its Delphi Automotive Systems unit.

Under the deal, Pinkerton, which recently completed moving its headquarters from Encino to Westlake Village, will supply uniformed security officers and patrol services at 150 GM and Delphi plants in the United States through 2006, Pinkerton announced.

Pinkerton also will continue to provide personnel protection, intellectual property protection, investigations and emergency management services for the companies.

GM plans to sell Delphi by late next year as part of a cost-cutting reorganization. Under the new contract, Pinkerton will continue to serve Delphi as a separate client after the spinoff.
