JoAnne Page Large; Jewelry Store Employee

Ventura resident JoAnne Page Large has died after suffering from leukemia for two years. She was 70.

Large, who died at her home Nov. 19, was born Sept. 6, 1928, in Kennett, Mo. She moved with her family to Santa Monica, where she graduated from high school.

While working in Panama in 1947, she married her first husband, retired Army Maj. Rex L. Searson of Dallas, and they had three children before divorcing.

Large worked for the Popular Dry Goods Co., in El Paso, Texas, for more than 15 years. In 1979, she accepted a position with Finlay Jewelry in Los Angeles and a year later she married William K. Large Jr. of Los Angeles.

In 1989, Large returned to El Paso as a regional manager for Finlay. She worked in stores in the downtown area and surrounding suburbs. She retired in 1995 after 15 years with Finlay and moved to Ventura a year later.

Her husband died in 1992.

Large is survived by three children, Timothy Searson of Dallas; Anthony C. Searson of Atascadero and Teresa D. Weich of El Paso, Texas; a sister, Mary Bingham of Ventura; a brother, Wilford D. Page of Pahrump, Nev.; and one granddaughter.

A private service will be held in Texas.

Donations can be made in Large’s name to the American Cancer Society’s office in Ventura.

Ted Mayr Funeral Home in Ventura is handling the arrangements.
