Innovative Financing in Mexico

Mexico’s gross domestic product has grown strongly for three straight years. Yet bank lending shrank from 1995 to 1997--and is close to flat this year. That means financing for the growth has had to come from an array of non-banking sources. The often-innovative methods range from consumer-oriented care and home finances to high-level corporate barter.
