3 Teens Hurt as Truck Tips in Crash
Three Irvine High School students suffered minor injuries in a traffic accident at noon Wednesday, police said.
The girls were traveling south on Culver Drive when they collided with a car turning left at Bryan Avenue, said Irvine Traffic Investigator Mike Estrick. The impact tipped their pickup truck on its side and into a signal pole.
The girls, ages 14, 15 and 17, all from Irvine, were taken to Irvine Medical Center and treated for minor injuries. One had X-rays taken, Estrick said.
The driver of the other car, a 72-year-old man, was uninjured.
Estrick said the crash is under investigation. The girls told police they were traveling through a yellow light, while the man said he had a green arrow.
Irvine High has an open campus policy that allows students to leave the school for lunch.
